#1: Clementine Cabin:
Clementine Cabin’s private forested 2-acre lot is perfect for a reconnecting hike through nature. Explore the bubbling creek, then return to the creekside fire pit and toast some hot dogs and marshmallows!
#2: Linville Caverns:
See you inside a mountain at Linville Caverns! Tour inside one of the last remaining active caverns! You can experience trout, bats, salamanders, cave crickets, and cave spiders in their natural habitat. Please bring water and your respect for nature, as Linville Caverns is a national heritage area. Protecting the wildlife along the tour is paramount! And you’ll help us maintain the beauty and integrity of the caverns and surrounding areas.
#3: Hickory Ridge Living History Museum:
Take a tour back in time and experience life in the 1800s as you explore historic cabins! Historic Interpreters dressed to blend authentically into the period make this so much more fun! Catch a glimpse of early mountain settler life and learn about their stout self-sufficiency through candle-making, spinning, cooking, and blacksmithing!
#4: Apple Hill Farm:
Come on down and fall in love with a tour with the animals at Apple Hill Farm! Enjoy alpacas, llamas, horses, pigs, and chickens as they roam the fields! You can also get up close with donkeys, goats, cows, and our barn dogs!
#5: Drive the Blue Ridge Parkway:
In the mood for a drive? Millions of people feel the Blue Ridge Parkway wind in their hair every year as they cruise past a wide range of exciting habitats along the Appalachian Mountains. The regional flora and fauna are world-renowned for their biodiversity! There are plenty of curated overlooks and parking lots to dip off the road for a photo and a closer look at the gorgeous natural scenery, so plan a leisurely drive down the Blue Ridge Parkway and make a day of it!
#6:Hiking/Mountain Biking:
Plan a trip to any of these three exquisite snow peaks near Banner Elk for a day on the slopes! The best part, you don’t even have to leave Eagle’s Nest to hike and mountain bike!
#7: Sugar Mountain Resort:
Take the summit express chairlift from the base of Sugar Mountain to its 5,300’ peak and enjoy hiking or mountain biking through signature expert and beginner trails!
