One of the Best Luxury Cabins in Banner Elk, North Carolina

Clementine Cabin at the Lodges at Eagle’s Nest is a little getaway run by us (your hosts), The Lyon Family! Hi, my name is Jennie Lyon! I’m excited to tell you a little more about my family! And of course, Clementine Cabin! And the Lodges at Eagle’s Nest neighborhood and this beautiful part of North Carolina called Banner Elk! Jayson, my incredible husband, and I have been married since 1999! We have a lovely family with Eben, our 20-year-old son, Noodles (our Pug), and Olive (our French Bulldog). I grew up in the mountains in a little town called Eden, Utah! It’s located near North America’s Largest Ski Resort, Powder Mountain. Jayson grew up spending as much time as possible skiing and snowboarding all over the Wasatch Front. To say we love the mountains would be an understatement.

When Eben, our son, was six months old, we had the opportunity to transfer with Jayson’s company to Florida. Jayson’s family also lived in Florida, which made the move a smooth one!

From Florida to North Carolina

It wasn’t long into our life in Florida that we started to miss the mountains (when they say the Mountains are Calling, that’s a real thing!). We started to visit West North Carolina as it’s within driving distance from our home here in Florida! We would sneak away at least once a year (usually in the fall) to get our fill of fresh, clean air, beautiful mountain scenery, and everything Western North Carolina has to offer!

How Clementine Cabin Came to Be

Early in our marriage, Jayson and I had decided to own a vacation home in Western North Carolina by our 20th wedding anniversary. It’s a goal that we talked about every year and took steps to ensure it would happen. Jayson planned a surprise trip to North Carolina for our 20th anniversary. On the actual day of our anniversary, we purchased a lot (and began the building process) in the Lodges at Eagle’s Nest in Banner Elk! Clementine Cabin is smack dap in the middle of the North Carolina’s High Country, amidst the beautiful Blue Ridge Parkway!

Some of Our Favorite Places to Eat in Banner Elk

The small town of Banner Elk is about 10 minutes down the mountain from Clementine Cabin! Our mountain getaway that is nestled between two ski resorts Sugar Mountain and Beech Mountain, at 4500 feet. Every one of our trips starts the same way; we drive into town and head over to the Banner Elk Cafe & Tavern. It’s a laid-back, family-friendly restaurant with a rustic feel. We always sit on the cozy patio and order their insanely outrageous hot chocolate! Then for dinner, we always enjoy LP on Main, a new artsy eatery!

A Few Fun Things to Do in Banner Elk to Get You Started

In between breakfast and dinner, you will find a ton of great activities year-round. You can go for a wild ride on the Wilderness Run Alpine Coaster (make sure to get the 3-trip pack!) Animal lovers can visit the llamas at Apple Hill Farm or even go horseback riding at Banner Elk Stables! Then there are the surrounding mountains. Breathtaking to hike (make sure to walk the Mile High Bridge at Grandfather Mountain and visit their small outdoor zoo). There is somewhere to hike, bike, ski, snowboard, tube, fish, zip-line, and generally enjoy the great outdoors around every corner! For such a small town, it’s got a lot going on!

Visit Downtown Banner Elk

Suppose you’re looking for a bit more of a relaxing getaway. In that case, there’re several wineries and breweries worth touring (make sure to stop by the Banner Elk Winery!)! There are spas to luxuriate in, and cultural centers where you can watch theater or peruse some art. Banner Elk is the nearest shopping hub and covers everything you need for a quick trip out!

Our Neighborhood Has All The Fun Things

If you want the BEST of everything Banner Elk has to offer, the Lodge’s at Eagles Nest takes it to the next level! When you stay at Clementine Cabin, you’ll get access to some amenities that are usually reserved for residents. There’s so much you can do here! It’ll almost feel like summer camp! It has its own winery, for starters! Make sure to get there early to grab a spot by one of the beautiful fire pits. You can hike one of the many waterfall trails in the neighborhood! Or head to the River Club for fishing and other activities on the water. Thrill-seekers will love the rope courses and climbing tower at Great Camp! Get adventurous by renting a UTV/ATV or electric bike for a scenic tour on the backcountry paths! Make sure to hit the Saturday Farmer’s Market and music at the outdoor amphitheater!

New Amenities Coming Soon

Look for a new playground, sports fields, archery, air rifle range, basketball court, and stocked fishing pond near the primitive campsites and firepits! Also, golfers can play a few rounds at the Elk River Club, midway between Eagle’s Nest and Banner Elk. And there’s the more family-friendly minigolf option at the Great Camp. There’s honestly so much to do; you’ll be hard-pressed to get it all done in one visit! Sometimes we come to Eagle’s Nest and never even leave the neighborhood!

We Have Great Weather in Banner Elk

My family loves it there, which is why we decided to build Clementine Cabin. Since we live in Florida, we need a getaway where we could experience the mountain weather once in a while! We also want others to share in this incredible part of North Carolina! When you stay at the cabin, you have three bedrooms, two full and one-half bathrooms to accommodate up to 8 people and kids! We’ve got an excellent 2-acre lot right along a creek! It makes for some scenic morning coffees or lovely nights around the wood-burning fire pit roasting marshmallows.

The Perks are Endless

Some of the best perks are the hot tub nestled in the trees, the cozy fire table on the covered deck, or the Pac-Man arcade game we keep in the game loft! As the home is newly built, everything is brand new, and each piece of furniture and accessory was hand-picked with luxury in mind. There is also wifi access, all streaming services, and cable TV. You’ll never miss the big game! For quiet nights watching a movie by the roaring fireplace. It’s an excellent home-away-from-home in such a fantastic, welcoming community. We think you’ll want to come back over and over again.

For more on the Lodges at Eagle’s Nest, you can look through their website. The local events are amazing (you HAVE to come for the Wooley Worm Festival)! And make a reservation at Stonewalls Restaurant and grab a steak, seafood, and a cocktail or two. There’s a lot to do like I said before, so plan accordingly. Or don’t, bring your favorite book and spend the day in the hammock listening to the bubbling creek.
